District Goals
Our district has set ambitious goals for the 2011-2012 Circle K year. The deadline to reach them is March 31, 2012. Check out our progress though October below!
- Complete 20,000 hours of community service
- Grow to 675 members
- Establish two new Circle K clubs
- Complete 200 K-family events and 100 interclubs
- Achieve 100% club and 18% of total membership representation at District Convention
- Recruit 60 members to a revamped Fall Rally
- Have 12 members represent Michigan at International Convention
- Visit two other districts in Subregion C
- Raise $5,000 for the Eliminate Project
- Make long term decisions as a group on district structure, mascot, and alcohol policy
Since April, we have completed more than 7,000 hours of service. With five large months of service remaining, we will have a great opportunity to reach this goal.
Dues have just recently begun to come in, and the current membership count is about 450 members. While the main recruitment rush is over, we are optimistic about reaching 675 members by the end of March.
So far, there is a club growing quickly at the University of Michigan Flint. We are working with a variety of colleges to establish a second new club.
Since April, 112 K-family events and 36 interclubs have been completed. We are well on pace to achieve these targets.
District Convention is in February. More information will be available soon!
Although we could only recruit 44 members, feedback on Fall Rally has been extremely positive. The use of teams, Nickelodeon theme, and SLIME made the weekend memorable for all. Attendance was up significantly from last year, and we hope that with increased word of mouth, even more members will be at district events in the future.
At ICON this year, Michigan had 15 members in attendance! This is a significant improvement from previous years. We all had a great time.
In early October, four members of the district visited the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District for WUM’s signature fall event. We will also be traveling to Illinois-Eastern Iowa for Holiday Embrace in early January.
At Fall Rally, we raised over $180 for Eliminate, and individual clubs have raised significantly more. Currently we do not have a great way to measure this goal accurately, but we feel our district’s contributions to the Eliminate Project are appropriate.
At the Fall Rally board meeting, we passed changes to the alcohol policy, pending approval from Kiwanis. Conversations about the district structure and mascot are also continuing. These policies will be voted on later in the year.
