MICHIGAN CIRCLE K
LIVE TO SERVE, LOVE TO SERVE
I am so excited to be able to serve as your district governor for this service year! I am even more excited to get to serve alongside all of you throughout our year together! We are still early on in the year, but I am still so proud of all of the work you all have done!
A little introduction about myself, I am a Junior at Central Michigan University studying communication sciences and disorders with a focus in Audiology and a minor in leadership! I have been a part of the Kiwanis family since I was a sophomore in high school. I joined key club and served in both club and district positions. I’ve attended CKI and Key Club ICON’s along with multiple different Kiwanis Conventions! Needless to say, Kiwanis has been a part of my life for quite a few years now!
This year clubs will be picking one or more different service initiatives provided by international. The goal in having clubs pick their own projects and set their own goals is to give clubs a chance to make their projects more customized to what their members want. My main focus for this year is to increase member involvement. To do this I want to get more than just the president involved with the district board! This means hosting causal meetings where members can come and hang out. Business as usual is good as long as we have time to get to know one another. I will work with our new service chair and membership development chair to recruit new members and to provide resources to clubs regarding membership retention!
CKI is unique in the sense that its focus is to serve. The organization does not have a set purpose. This leaves the impact up to the members. Whether you do a project to create a garden in your community or you raise $100 for a mental health organization, you are making a positive change. All projects and service should be encouraged which is why CKI is a home for so many!
